Mr. Ramsey has twenty six years of risk management and risk transfer experience in loss control engineering, marketing and underwriting of technical and catastrophe-exposed classes of business, in the commercial property insurance and reinsurance industry. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and has also earned the following designations: Professional Engineer; State of Texas and Associate in Risk Management.
Mr. Ramsey began his career with FM Global Engineering. He spent eight years involved in loss control focused on specialty occupancy classes including pulp and paper, wood products, utilities, textiles, high risk warehousing and flammable liquid operations.
After FM Global, Mr. Ramsey joined the Sorema Group writing insurance and facultative reinsurance. His focus was on oil and gas and other heavy technical occupancies including mining, onshore and offshore marine, refining and petrochemical. Mr. Ramsey was responsible for management of a book of business for catastrophe, industrial, and manufacturing risks.
After the Sorema Group, Mr. Ramsey joined ICAT to develop and build ICAT’s Middle Market Business Unit for hurricane-exposed risks. His focus was primarily on ICAT’s commercial underwriting strategy throughout the Gulf Coast, Florida and East Coast States. In addition, Mr. Ramsey led the development of ICAT’s strategy on the All Other Peril (AOP) or Fire book of business. He was also involved in new product development outside of coastal regions.
After ICAT, Mr. Ramsey joined All Risks. At All Risks, Mr. Ramsey had direct responsibility for the MGU, a proprietary binding facility. His responsibilities included oversight of underwriting, systems, operations, guidelines and procedures. Mr. Ramsey also utilized his property expertise in other areas of the All Risks organization including large property transactions, carrier relationships and overall property underwriting perspective.
At Catalytic Risk, Mr. Ramsey will be responsible for the execution of the Company’s East Coast property production and underwriting strategy. He will be a member of the senior leadership team working directly with the CEO and CUO.
